Having clean water has become a major priority over the past several years. Utility companies add chlorine to the water, however, this does not remove many contaminants that are found in tap water like lead and antibiotics. To remove these hidden pollutants from your drinking water, a water filtration system is essential.
The Carafe Filter
Of all water filtration systems, this is the easiest to use. This system consists of a pitcher that uses a carbon filter. Filters can be easily changed as needed. Filtration pitchers are great for drinking water. However, if you have a large household, this may not be the best option to keep up with the water consumption.
Faucet Water Filtration
Faucet-mounted filters are great at filtering everyday contaminants. Since these are mounted directly to the faucet, you don’t have to constantly refill a pitcher. On the downside, these filters don’t fit all faucets and water flow may be slowed down.
Under-Counter Water Filters
If you want to take your water purification to the next level, the under-counter filter may be a good choice. This type of filter offers a more permanent solution to clean drinking water. The cartridges do not need to be changed as often and these filters take up no counter space. However, you will have to pay a professional plumber to install an under-counter filter.
Whole-House Water Filtration
If you are looking to filter all of the water in your home, the whole house filter is the way to go. This filtration system removes sediments, chlorine, metals, and other harmful contaminants from drinking water and bathing water. On the downside, filter cartridges can be expensive and a professional plumber will need to perform the installation.
